Cobbing the walls

The cob walls are finally starting to go up. Here you can see the small holes we push into each layer helping bind the next batch of cob to the existing wall.

Door bucks

RMH insulation

The brickwork heat riser of the RMH is wrapped in hardware cloth and filled with insulation. We decided to use perlite for the insulation and added a coat of clay slip so that it will not settle over time. Lucky for us, clay was readily available for free on the building site.

RMH exhaust

Now that the brickwork is done for the RMH, we put down the ductwork for the exhaust to run through. All of the duct here will eventually be cobbed over to form a bench. Both of the black T's will work as clean out areas with removable caps. Next step is cobbing over the brick and putting in the barrel.
